Supporting care-experienced young people to live healthier, safer, independent lives

The Wave is a pilot programme focusing on supporting young people to achieve a variety of individualised goals, based on their hopes and aspirations for life.

About us

Care-experience intersects with and compounds many other recognised forms of systemic disadvantage and inequality.

At The Wave, we want to make sure young people have the support they need to live an independent, healthy, safe and fulfilling life beyond care.

We work with young people who are in care, or have experienced care, to give them the tools and support to navigate life after care.

Our person-centred approach means we work together with each young person to identify and agree on a variety of individualised goals; ranging from the practical and tangible, such as securing safe and stable accommodation, to more holistic goals based on lifestyle or emotional wellbeing.

We underpin all activities with positive role-modelling, robust conversations regarding safe and healthy relationships (including exploitation and domestic abuse), and support to build and sustain positive relationships with other professionals and services.

We also put particular focus on supporting young people to access existing services, and working closely with those services to share a trauma-informed approach.
